I come here once a week or two for drop in lane swim it’s always pleasant. Staff are nice and the facility/schedule is organized well. The floors in the change rooms could be a bit cleaner though, but overall it’s not bad at all. I enjoy this pool a lot.
My kid's school offered swimming lessons during PE classes. The center is great opportunity for such events and personal visits as well. The group was introduced to the activity by lifeguard named Mustafa. He was very patient with all questions from the kiddos. Changing rooms were clean, plenty of lockers, lots of lost items left after our visit :) Showers on the way to pools and washrooms. Pretty neat.
The kids were divided on groups based on skill level, then 5 lifeguards/trainers started training with lots of patience and care.
Great staff, cold as hell pool
I had to think hard a few times to decide how many stars I give this place. For the people, ie the staff and instructors, this places deserves 10 stars out of 5. Super friendly and amazing staff.
For the facility, I would give it a 1.5 star only and here's why:
1. The place where people leave their boots and shoes is sorta filthy
2. The main big pool is STUPID COLD. It makes zero sense how this is the one pool that is so cold compared to any other city of Calgary pool.
3. The hot pool, note hot not heated has been out of commission at least 25-30% of the times I've been there.
The City should invest in the pool heating because the location is ideal and the only one which is in a inner city neighbourhood.
Overall nice place;
I had been here for swimming and hence all my review are related to that; I have not explored other facilities by them.
So for swimming -
1. Pay and swim - prices are in one my picture which has all rates
2. Then comes locker -
You need to lock your belongings either with 25 or 50 cent locker (you make sure of carrying coin) or the lock for lock with your own lock and key
3. You are expected to take a bath with soap before and after swim
4. Life jackets; swim board; Etc all are free inside for pool
5. There are four pools they have ;
A. Main swimming pool (normal or cold water when I visited)
B. Hot water ; smaller in size ; but good to start with
C. Dive pool
D. Kids pool with all play items
6. I went in public swim time so it has 1hr30min time to swim on Sat (12:30 to 2:00); on Sunday 9:30 to 11:30.
7. There are lot of lifeguards around to watch for safety
8. Check out new photos for the latest schedule (14 Jan 2023 visit).
I warn people who think that their boots have no value, this is not true, in this room for sure. I left my boots in front of the locker room, and after 1.5 hours they were not there. Someone needed used boots... It’s better to lock your things, even if they don’t have much value for you, someone else might like them)) The workers at the recreation center didn’t really care, even though there was a camera there.
Had the 6am Monday morning deep tank aquasize class this morning. That was the best class I have ever had in all the years I have been taking them. Jane was extra fantastic as our class instructor. Infectious energy, friendly, knowledgeable and really connected with the class
My mom accidentally locked her lock key inside, thankfully staffs cut open the lock for her in no time ~ thank you!! She could enjoy the favorite hottub without panic 😀 i really appreciate all the hard working staffs for community ! …
I love this place! Joined this centre for swimming lessons and my instructor Rachel is the sweetest. She is quite helpful and after 5 classes, I think I know the technique but obviously need practice. She also delved into various techniques as per each individual's comfort.
I gave 4 stars because the booking process is overwhelming. We got up to be in the online queue for registration at 5.30 AM, yet we were waitlisted to be in the waiting queue. The demand is wayyyy more than the supply. Also, for a class of 8 adults, the pool space allocated was a bit small. 3 lanes aren't enough for 8 adults to practice without running into each other. We were obviously doing it and I guess, at this price, it was fine.
As the winter season sets in, the temperature inside seems to be cooling too... I wish it stays a bit warmer inside.
Lockers are available at 25 cents per use. Changing rooms are clean.
Won’t go here again. Not a lot of options for kids to play, my 7 year olds weren’t allowed to swim in a different section than me even with life jackets on, and a super cranky old lady took out her frustration on me and my kids in the change room.
